April Phillips Clinical Focus: Children, Adolescents, and Adults

Practice Approach: April Phillips’ approach to care is holistic and person-centered, with a focus on helping clients achieve an optimal state of well-being. She feels honored and privileged to walk alongside her clients on their journey to optimal health. April Phillips takes an integrated approach, drawing on her expertise in therapeutic, nutritional, herbal, and functional medicine. She has completed advanced training in modalities such as COPE to Thrive and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Currently, she is pursuing an additional certification in functional medicine through the International Institute for Functional Medicine. As she explains, “Functional medicine is a systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease” (Institute for Functional Medicine, 2024).

Collaborative Care: Collaboration is a key element of April Phillips’ practice. She works closely with families, therapists, healthcare professionals, and community-based programs to develop comprehensive care plans tailored to each client’s needs. While she provides care for clients of all ages, she has particular expertise in pediatric and adolescent care. As a trauma-informed provider, April has held certification as a SANE-A and SANE-P provider for over a decade.

APRIL PHILLIPS - EDUCATION & LICENSES

April Phillips (DNP) is a dual board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner. She has been in practice for over thirteen years and has dedicated her career to the provision of mental health services to underserved populations in need. She completed her doctorate in 2016 (Summa Cum Laude), and her research involved the development of innovative strategies to provide psychiatric services in a rural, underserved community. She recently completed a fellowship in diversity, equity, and inclusion through Frontier Nursing University. As a National Health Service Corp ambassador, she has collaborated closely with several members of Congress and former Gov. Susanna Martinez (NM) to increase the availability of mental health services in rural, underserved communities. She continues to speak as an expert in the field at the national and international levels.
